New Date - August 5!
Families are invited to a fascinating nature-focused dance class with the brilliant and beloved Tatyana Kot, and a lovely community picnic in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Tatyana Kot is an experienced dancer, choreographer and physical theater performer.
She will teach a class in “dance assemblage” -- a movement creation method based on observation of nature and self, combining the elements of contemporary dance, yoga, butoh and visual art. Kids will be led through a warm-up focused on empowering the mind-body connection, then they will create the individual and group dance improvised pieces. The dance class will be great for children ages 4-11.
We will have some light snacks. Feel free to bring your own snacks and especially water/beverages of your choice, as these are hot summer days (though the mornings are a bit cooler). There is a really fun "Water Lab" playground at Brooklyn Bridge Pier 6 with fun sprinklers and other water activities. We encourage parents to pack bathing suits/water friendly shoes for your kiddos in case you want to enjoy the water fun after our event!
When you register, we'll inform you of the exact meeting location in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
This program is made possible with the generous support of PJ Library of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
